Femdom for bushfire relief: Final tally

My ‘Femdom for bushfire relief‘ ran for 7 days last week.

I’ve started writing this update a couple of times, and I swear my emotions are living right on the surface right now. I don’t know why they insist on sitting there, but there they are. Everything to do with what is going on here with the bushfires makes me cry.

The bad makes me cry because it’s horrific and frightening and rage-making and awful.

The good makes me cry because it’s the best of people, of human kindness, of beauty, of hope, of community.

All of it makes me cry.

So I’d be feeling pretty fine and sit down to write this, and I’d start crying. Every fucking time. JFC.

Did I ever mention I hate to cry? I do, I hate it.

*deep breath*

Firstly…

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

To everyone who bought books, who donated, who supported, who shared, who contributed to this bushfire appeal.

I’m both heartened and humbled by it. And I’m so very grateful for the generosity of spirit and concern that people have shown.

The final tally includes:

Profits from book sales over the 7 days

PLUS

The contributions of two amazing folks who donated $3 per book on top of that (each up to $USD150, and we maxed them out :))

PLUS

Contributions from ten generous people who donated directly to the Red Cross, WIRES (wildlife rescue), the NSW Rural Fire Service and Victoria bushfire disaster appeal and sent me receipts

And with all of that truly marvellous support, we raised

$2,694.51!!!!!!

$3000.00!!!!!!

(see Jan 14th update below the audio for details :))

Arrrggghhh!! So fucking good!!

The direct donations are already in the hands of the organisations I mentioned above, and the rest will go to the Australian Red Cross.

Thank you thank you thank you.

Now if you want to hear me promise not to cry AND THEN FUCKING CRY ABOUT IT, here’s my mortifying ‘thank you’ in my Australian non-accent.

Edited 14 Jan: Today an extraordinary thing happened on twitter. An initial offer from a lovely in my inbox offering to bump the total up to a nice neat $2,750, which I accepted (of course!) and shared on twitter. There followed a gauntlet, some warriors, a fast and furious post-appeal push, and we got the total to an even $3000!! Aaaaahhhhh!!! The unfolding was a bit all over the place, so hard to track, but my summary tweet is here.

If you would still like to donate, you can click on any of the links above for the organisations I mentioned, or go to this article that gives you more options.

  1. Everything about this is so euphoric. It has made me cry a few times too. I imagined when this all began a few hundred dollars at most. I NEVER imagined a community online would come together in this magnitude. I needed this reminder to humble and hearten me as well. I needed the reminder that there are some really good people out there. I wish I could do more. I always want to do more.
Also, it breaks my heart to hear or see a woman cry. Unless, of course, its because she’s happy. Hugs!!!

    1. I also expected a few hundred dollars or so, and have been amazed by all the wonderful folks who stepped up and contributed. SO GOOD!!!

I, too, needed the reminder and this was a great one <3 <3.

  2. It’s incredibly devastating and I think it’s amazing that you rallied your people to raise that much money! Thank you for the links – I donated directly.
Thinking of you and your fellow country-people.
